Ideas are responsible for the progression and prosperity of humans!
This is what Sir Richard Branson, the founder of Virgin group wrote on his blog and he added: "... – without them we would still be living in prehistoric times. No idea is too small, and all sorts of ideas have the potential to change the world as we know it for the better" (Source #1)
Even if we do not have the ambition to change the world with our ideas. Your ideas are fundamental to change your own life for the better. Short term and longterm. Whether it was the treehouse you scribbled with your kids on an iPad (or paper) and then became a reality or a new fancy sport you always wanted to do. Like myself - I started "the idea" of wakeboarding and snowboarding when I was 46. I wrote it down (in my bucket list), read it many times and then "it became" real. Whatever I achieved in my life - it started with an idea!
I believe that executing as many of our ideas as possible is how you grow as a person. The more often you have this feeling of success - so basically proving to yourself that you can do it (despite all those naysayers) - will make you strong and effective!
The first step is always to store/save your ideas somewhere - the more ideas the better. This is because many of them will be sorted out later. So go and write down each and every idea you have. Make it a habit of your daily life. The earlier you start in your life - the better. Then there is the need for consequent execution. You also have to make this a habit of your life. One thing is for sure: People typically overestimate what they can achieve in a year but totally underestimate what they can achieve in 10 years! So start today..in little steps.
I started when I was 35 with consequently writing down my ideas. Mainly driven by the book "The seven habits of highly effective people (Stephen Covey)". For many years I used paper, then text files, apps etc. .... and one day I had this idea of writing an own app for my method. So I started. It took a while. But finally I did it. The first version was named "The Dingel App" as it was representing my method on how to get from an idea via implementation to success. Recently I simplified the app and renamed it to "Mike - My Microphone!". This is because I have many ideas when making sports and what I always have with me is the Apple Watch and my iPhone. So I use mainly the voice recording functionality via the Apple Watch to store my ideas as voice note (it will be transcribed automatically). Raise the arm, tap recording and the idea is saved. So Mike - my Microphone was the best name I found.
Still, the full blown functionality of my method is hidden and can be enabled via the settings. But it takes some time for each and everyone to get to the point from noting down an idea to execution. So when you reach this point you can enable all needed functionality.
So no matter in which situation I´m in - The Apple Watch allows me to store the ideas I have.
Anyhow: It doesn´t matter how you save and follow up on your ideas!
Just do it! Get better! Everyday!
